Jeffrey R. Holzschuh, ’82, Chair, NU Board of Trustees

“I met Father Joe 35 years ago as a freshman at Niagara. I was our class president and our first interaction was because he was the advisor to our class. I was involved in several other groups on campus and he was a good mentor for me in all of them and we developed a strong mutual respect.

“Our relationship has remained constant throughout that time. He has been a great friend, but has continued to serve as an advisor and mentor for me. I would also like to think in my years as a trustee, and as the chairman of the Board, that I have been able to give back to him in, some way, some advice and counsel. I look forward to working with him in his new role as president emeritus.

“The other constant regarding Father Joe has been how he leads by example. He is without question the priestliest administrator I have seen. He has an incredible warmth and sincerity to him, and the unique ability to relate to everyone, from students, politicians, to artists, athletes and business people. And that trait has allowed him to unite the Niagara University community in being the best it can be.”
