Rev. Kevin Creagh, C.M., Vice President of Campus Ministry/Vincentian Religious Superior, Niagara University

“Father Levesque has devoted his life to the Church as a Vincentian priest, a teacher, an administrator, a provincial, and a president. In all of these significant roles, he has been selfless in carrying out his duties and responsibilities. He is truly a servant leader in his commitment to educating the whole person in a Catholic and Vincentian environment.

“As president of Niagara, he has been a transformational leader, a brilliant man who has led the university to the next level, always making his decisions with a focus on how to better serve our students and campus community.

“But more importantly, he is a Vincentian priest. That is what he desired to be, and that’s the way he has lived his vocation for 46 years. He does everything with great humility, and treats everyone as if they are the most important person to him. He is the first to arrive at events to greet everyone, and the last to leave so he can say goodbye. He is always available to welcome you with great respect, genuine warmth, and reverence, and he has a special love for the poor.

“For Father Levesque, every moment is an opportunity to make a difference in someone’s life. He lives by this credo and inspires all members of the campus community to do the same. I remember one basketball game that I attended with him. At the end of the game, as a long line of people were leaving the court, he noticed one person who was in need. Although it had been a long day and Father was tired, he took the time to listen to her with great concern and respect.

“Father Levesque is a beautiful embodiment of St. Vincent de Paul; St. Vincent really walked Niagara’s campus for the past 13 years.”
